What happens during a veterinary exam?

Here at Orleans, personalized care is one of the cornerstones of our services. This means each appointment and health plan varies from patient to patient. Be that as it may, there are certain steps we take for all patients. A typical exam will usually include:

  • Weighing and measurement-taking
  • Diagnostics (depending on need)
    • Blood, urine and fecal sampling
    • Ultrasounds and X-rays
  • Tip-to-tail visual check
    • Breathing and heartbeat
    • Eye and vision
    • Skin, hair and nails
    • Gait and stance
    • Teeth and gums

How often should I take my pet to the vet?

For pets who are adult-age and perfectly healthy, once per year is usually enough. If your pet is senior age, a puppy/kitten, pregnant, or has a medical condition, more frequent visits will be needed as they are in a more vulnerable state. Twice-a-year visits are common for seniors and newborns.
